Root · Beginning with Jesus

God made you. He loves you. He wants you back.

If you're on this page, something brought you here. Maybe it's curiosity. Maybe a friend told you. Maybe you're tired and you've been wondering what Jesus is really about. Whatever it is, you're welcome here. There's no test.

What follows is short, honest, and walks through what the Bible says it means to begin following Jesus. Take your time.

The Gospel · in four beats

What the Bible actually says.

1. God made you on purpose.

You aren't an accident. The God who made the mountains and the oceans made you with intention, and He loves you.

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb."Psalm 139:13

2. Something is broken.

You know it. We all do. The Bible's word for it is sin, every place we've gone our own way instead of God's way. Sin separates us from a God who is perfectly good, and the wages of it are death.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."Romans 3:23

3. Jesus came to fix it.

God didn't leave us there. He sent His own Son, Jesus, who lived a perfect life, died on a cross paying the penalty for our sin, and rose from the dead three days later. The way back to God is open, through Him.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."John 3:16

4. You have to respond.

The gift is free, but it is only yours when you receive it. You receive it by trusting Jesus, confessing that you have gone your own way, believing He died and rose for you, and asking Him to be Lord of your life.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."Romans 10:9
The prayer

You can pray this with your own words. Here is one way.

There are no magic words. God hears the heart, not the script. But if you've never prayed before, this is a starting place. Read it out loud.

Jesus,

I know I have gone my own way. I have sinned. I cannot save myself.

I believe that you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross for my sin, and that God raised you from the dead.

Right now, I turn from my old life. I receive you as my Savior and my Lord. Come into my life. Make me new. I want to follow you the rest of my days.

Thank you for hearing me. Thank you for loving me. Amen.

If that was your honest prayer, the Bible promises you have just become a child of God. The next page will help you record it and take your next step.

Welcome to the family

Heaven just got louder.

"There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.", Luke 15:7

If you'd like to share your first name (and email, only if you want someone to follow up), we'd love to know. Both are completely optional. You can also skip and stay anonymous, the record either way just helps us pray for you.

If you give it, someone may reach out with a single short note pointing you to a first-week reading guide. We will not subscribe you to anything.
